Jonathan Blasts Critics, Says Only PDP Can Lead Nigeria to Greatness

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has faulted critics of his administration and the Peoples Democratic Party, saying the party is back and is the only one that can lead the country to greatness.

Mr Jonathan’s comments came at the PDP’s non-elective national convention today in Abuja, one month after the Supreme Court resolves the prolonged leadership tussle in the party.

“I am here to reassure you that nobody should intimidate PDP. PDP is the only party that can take Nigeria to greatness. I believe in the PDP. Even God believes in the PDP,” he said.

The PDP has attracted heavy criticism for its 16-year rule, especially in the build up to the 2015 general elections and since the All Progressives Congress replaced it as the ruling party with the current administration levelling serious allegations of corruption against the Jonathan administration.

But Jonathan dismissed the allegations, insisting that the party did well.

“I read the papers and people always want to diminish the PDP. It is difficult to beat us; you cannot beat us. And I tell us, PDP members, that from the days of (Olusegun) Obasanjo through the days of (Umaru) Yar’Adua to Jonathan, we have done well. Nobody should intimidate you,” he said.

The Jonathan administration has also been blamed for the current economic crisis in the country, which has seen inflation soar, led to the loss of jobs and as companies and governments have battled to pay salaries.

But the former President would have none of that even though he admits that the PDP is not perfect.

He said, “As a human institution we cannot claim to be perfect, but obviously as a political party, our accomplishments up till 2015 are clear for everybody to see. Our giant development strides are there for all Nigerians to see. There is ample evidence to show that our party has indeed proved to be a party of vision and accomplishment.”

On the political front, he used the elections conducted as examples of his party’s success.

“The elections we conducted, especially from 2011 to 2015 general elections and other elections – senatorial and governorship elections – were accepted globally that they met global standards because PDP is a party that wants to place Nigeria globally to compete favourably with other countries. We don’t look back and we have done well. We succeeded in doing that because of the leverage and autonomy we gave to INEC,” he said.

“Also, even on the economic front, we provided focused leadership through institutional and sectoral reforms which impacted positively on the fundamentals for growth especially in the last four years of my time in power.

“The effect was that we tamed inflation at single digit, maintained price stability, grew the economy to become the largest in Africa with a GDP of over half a trillion dollars and the number one foreign investment destination on the continent.”

He took a swipe at the APC’s handling of the economy, particularly the high food prices, claiming that despite heavy flooding in 2012, which affected many farms across the nation, his administration was able to keep food prices stable.

We Have No Intention To Retrench Workers, Benue Gov Claims

The Benue State Government has stated that it has no intention of retrenching or downsizing it workforce despite its huge wage bill and the prevailing economic recession.

The state Commissioner for Finance, Mr. David Olofu, who made this known wednesday in Makurdi said Governor Samuel Ortom was not disposed to laying off workers in the state service.

Olofu said the state government would rely on the outcome of the ongoing screening of workers being carried out by the committee on emergency on salary payment to have a true picture and figure of the state’s workforce.

Olofu said: “Retrenchment of staff and half payment of salaries are the options available to us as a government. But like you know the disposition of the governor, he does not subscribe to the options.
“This is because of the nature of the economy of our state. He is somebody who has lived all his live in Benue State and he knows that to every worker in Benue, there are about four to five dependents, so he has never, since I started working with him, considered any of those two options.

“Our neighboring states, of course went for one of those options but that equally has not solved the problem.
“So what we ask for is the understanding of our people. Let them know that when the situation improves, we will do everything to achieve and meet their needs.

“Like I have always mentioned, we need to make our agriculture more competitive which is where we have comparative advantage. Because as an investor, I would ask myself why should I come to Benue, what am I coming to do here that I cannot do in other states that have lower logistics cost?

“So we need to make our agriculture more competitive. That is what the government is doing now by opening up our rural areas. And in no distant time, we will surely get there and our people would have every reason to laud this administration.”

Breaking: Senate President, Bukola Saraki Sacks 98 Aides in One Day

Senate President Bukola Saraki has sacked his director of protocol, head of administration and 96 others to scale down the number of his aides, our correspondent reliably gathered yesterday.

FM gathered that the affected aides have been issued sack letters through the office of the Chief of staff, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed. It was gathered that with the mass sack, Saraki’s aides have been reduced from over 300 to a little above 200.

FM had reported in March, 2016, how hundreds of aides engaged by Saraki, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and Deputy Speaker, Yusuf Lasun weighed down the National Assembly.

An aide to Saraki told our correspondent that the last batch of the affected aides, were given their sack letters on Tuesday.

“They started last Wednesday and they have finished distributing the letters on Tuesday. Out of the 300 aides, about 100 were affected. You know we have some of our colleagues that are based in Kwara,” he said.

He said among those affected were the director of protocol, Arthur Ndiwe and the head of administration, Mrs Folasade Adigun.

It was also gathered that the Special Adviser to Saraki on legal matters, Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi has also resigned.

Another source in Saraki’s office, who also confirmed the mass sack, said majority of those affected were staff of the National Assembly, who have been on secondment for over a decade.

The source who doesn’t want to be named said others who were affected are those who were redundant and are not ‘adding value’ to the system.

Former Porn Star Says She Waited Until Marriage to Have Sex with Pastor Husband

Brittni De La Mora, previously known as a porn star, is encouraging women to wait until marriage to have sex with their future spouses.

De La Mora says after becoming a Christian she decided to refrain from sexual activity until marriage and encouraged women to remember that sexual purity always starts with the heart, according to a recent article in the Gospel Herald.

Before she found Jesus as her Savior, De La Mora was known by her former stage name "Jenna Presley," and was a rising star in the adult film industry.

She performed in hundreds of films, was named one of Maxim Magazine's top 12 female performers in porn and she also placed second in Jenna Jameson's American Sex Star on Playboy TV.

She was also taking in thousands of dollars but God had other plans in store for her life.

Craig Gross' XXXChurch played a key role in her coming to know Jesus and De La Mora soon left her former lifestyle and lucrative paycheck behind.

"When I first began going to Cornerstone Church of San Diego I had just left the Adult Film Industry, where I had filmed roughly 375 scenes," she said in a recent blog post.

"Yes, I know, that is a lot. I went into Church so broken and had come to the end of myself. I was so far down in life I had nowhere to look but up. I knew that my way in life was not working. I was almost 26 years old, single, broke, and depressed," she added.

As she started to learn more about Jesus her mindset began to change.

"As I began reading the Bible, I learned a new way of living. I knew God had given me a second chance at life and I wanted to do whatever I could to do it right this time," she said.

Not only did she change her heart, but also decided to wait until marriage to have sex.

"I thought, 'If an ex-porn star could wait to have sex until marriage, then anyone can do it,'" she said. "In Church, I heard so many great stories from women who had bad relationships, they were sexually intimate prior to marriage and fought all the time, but God restored them."

"Although I love a good restoration story I did not want that story. I wanted to be able to say, 'Sexual purity is not easy, but it is possible, and if I can do it, so can you," she added.

God also brought a man into her life that wanted to wait to have sex until marriage as well.

"I was celibate for 3 years and my husband for 7 years," she said. "Honoring God has been important to us since the day we met Him. I am so grateful that my husband and I chose to honor God over our desires and temptations. We did it the right way because we did it God's way. Because of this I can truly say that I have been blessed with a great marriage. God continues to favor us and bless us with mind blowing opportunities."

She continues to remind other women that God is faithful to those who are faithful to him and that purity isn't just a physical issue--it's a heart issue.

"To my friends whom are dating or want to date, purity is not easy, but honoring God is always worth it," she advised. "If you've been intimate with your partner, I would encourage you to give purity a chance. God will honor and bless you immensely for honoring Him," she said.

"Purity always starts with the heart. To keep a pure heart, I seek God everyday through worship, prayer and reading the Bible. I continue to overlook offenses and quickly forgive those who hurt me," she added.

Photos: Man Sues Heineken, Says He Found 2 Dead Lizards in His Beer

A Fountain Valley man is suing Heineken and The Kroger Co after he allegedly found two dead geckos lizards in a can beer he bought at a local Ralphs supermarket.

A lawsuit filed in Orange County Superior Court on Friday, George Toubbeh alleges he suffered severe abdominal pain in August 2015 after he drank from a 24-ounce Heineken he bought from a Ralphs chain owned by Ohio-based Kroger in Fountain Valley,

According to the suit, Toubbeh said he noticed that the beer had a foul taste and he immediately began having abdominal pain and started vomiting. His daughter examined the can of beer and found two juvenile leopard geckos inside, the suit states. Geckos are a type of lizard.

“When discovered, the geckos had not been decomposed at all and were likely alive when the beer was poured and sealed into the cans in the bottling and/or canning facility,” the lawsuit states.

Toubbeh claimed he went to the emergency room at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and was prescribed Xanax, a sedative, and Zofran, which helps treat nausea and vomiting.

The suit says he continued to suffer from severe gastrointestinal ailments, emotional distress, and anxiety and missed several weeks of work as a result.

Reacting to the lawsuit, the Heineken USA, a subsidiary of the Dutch brewing company in a statement rubbished the claims saying it “holds the safety and integrity of the products we import to the highest standards. We have investigated this isolated claim, and based on a number of factors, we confidently believe there is no merit to this claim.”

Toubbeh’s attorney, John Montevideo, said his law firm, DiMarco Araujo Montevideo, independently examined the beer can and had the geckos evaluated by a zoologist.
“We feel the action is meritorious and viable,” he said.

According to LA Times, Toubbeh is seeking unspecified general damages, medical expenses, lost earnings and the cost of the lawsuit.

Buhari To Complete In 2018 Rail Project Abandoned For 30 Years – Amaechi

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, on Monday said the Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri standard gauge rail lines would start commercial operation in June 2018.

Mr. Amaechi made this known this while inspecting the ongoing rail project in Warri.

He said that the federal government had instructed that the project must be completed by the first quarter of 2018, which was included in the budget.

The minister said that the project was first awarded in 1987 and abandoned for over 30 years which would have been the first standard gauge in Africa.

“There are two phases of the contracts; the first one was awarded in 1987.

We have a directive from the federal government that we must complete the Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri rail line and it was put in this year budget.

“By the end of December last year, we had disbursed some money to the contractors; Julius Berger and others to commence work, so we have come to see how far.

“We are constructing bridges too in order to reduce contact with human beings who would try to cross the track because this is a speed lane and once it starts, it is going to be 120 to 150 km per hour because it is a standard gauge.

“If this contract was completed within the time it was awarded, Nigeria would have been the first country in Africa to have a standard gauge line.

“We need to get this place functioning and the directive of the Federal Government is, we should start and our target is that by June, commercial activities will resume,” he said.

He said that Julius Berger opted out of the project because it did not have equipment on ground after the Itakpe-Ajaokuta rail tracks was vandalised.

He said that the Itakpe-Ajaokuta track that was vandalised would be given to China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) because it has the facilities on ground to complete the project.

He further disclosed that Julius Berger would however handle the civil work to construct new yard, the 99 bridges, flyovers and refurbish the 178km yard in Agbor.

Inspecting the railway village in Agbor, the minister ordered that the village with about 420 houses should be handed back to the ministry due to poor maintenance.

He said that the ministry would hand over the village to Julius Berger for totally rehabilitation which could be rented to workers.

At the Abraka site, the minister directed the Team Nigeria Ltd., the project consultant to expand the bridges to accommodate two vehicles as the bridges constructed could only accommodate one vehicle.

However, David Imafidon, Julius Berger Site Engineer, said that with the level of work ongoing, the project could be completed within the speculated time.

He said that 99 bridges were to be constructed in the ongoing project with 12 rail stations to be constructed, adding that the overpasses to Agbor town were already completed.

Chiedu Nwazojie, the Consultant of Team Nigeria Ltd. said that the company would make all the adjustment indicated by the minister to expand the bridges to accommodate more vehicles.

He said that the June 2018 date given to them by the minister was feasible.

The News Agency of Nigeria correspondent on the entourage observed that the rail site had abandoned facilities such as the wagons, communication towers, locomotives workshop, rolling stock depot and clinic.

The rail site was constructed since 1994 but was not completed, while the Agbor, Abraka and Warri sites, the tracks and the environment were covered with thick vegetation.

Muslim Policeman Caught Letting Criminals Go If They Pledge Their Souls To ALLAH

Police departments across the nation are finally cracking down on Muslim infiltration. According to a 2013 report published by the Faith Prosperity And Freedom Foundation of America, the FBI discovered multiple plots for Muslims to fill police departments nationwide in preparation for the forced implementation of Sharia Law.

One of these Muslims was Camden, MA$$achusetts Police Department’s Muhammad al- Shabika Shaloub, a nine-year veteran of the force. Reports have been rolling in for the past week that the decorated officer has been lenient on everything from drug dealers to child molesters.

All he asks is one thing: that they convert to Islam. “He caught me dealing crack cocaine,” said one unnamed person who made a deal with the officer.

“He told me to start attending his Mosque and no one would be none the wiser.”
“He started screaming at me and calling me unclean,” said one woman who was nabbed in a prostitution sting.
“Then he told me if I gave myself to Allah I would ‘be spared.’ I made the deal, but I have felt dirty ever since. I was raised a Christian.”
“There are hundreds of reports like this,” said an internal affairs spokeswoman.

“He’s been doing this for quite some time. There’s no telling how many criminals he has put back on the streets.”

At least six of the people who were bullied into selling their souls to Allah have agreed to testify in exchange for immunity.
