Editorial: Matters Arising in Tiv Nation, Who's a Good Tiv Man?

With the recent developments in the Tiv nation, prior to the event of Tor Tiv's coronation, the Tiv land has been shaky due to resentments and biased way of thinking of the people.

In a colony of people with same ancestral background, there should be progress and peace which are results of unity. Many people who are from the Tiv nation have identified it that Tiv as a nation is not growing despite wealth of knowledge, chain of exposed professionals and a while lot of people with diverse views. Sadly, these views are not to the progress of the Tivs as a people.

In a recent update made by a renowned man of God, Bishop Sam Zuga on his Facebook page has clearly shown that there is a war, a negative agenda among the Tiv people.

In the Facebook post, the bishop rightly pointed out that one of the problems of Tiv people is the outright condemnation of leaders. He wrote that leaders are not angels nor strangers, but are gotten from the land itself, hence why the condemning? Read below his full update on his page.
"Leaders are not gotten among angels, they are picked among the citizens of the land. If we Tiv people are always condemning our leaders, thinking that we are humiliating them, we are rather showing the world that, there is no good Tiv person that can be used in leadership position anywhere. All the petitions against Tiv men in leadership positions home and abroad are written by a Tiv man. The question is, who is a good Tiv man alive? Anyone can answer me."

This remark has generated heat as many people who saw the post are buying his line of thought.

One of the follow up comments has this to say.
"You have to be a good person to see the good in another man. As it is right now the people are grossly demoralized. Until they can partake of the good of the land, they will murmur, but as it is there is trouble in the land and we must help ourselves. Trading blames won't do cos the supposed leaders too are under fire instead of outright condemnation we should act reasonably and pray for our leaders".
The thought above is not far from that of the Bishop, hence the obviousness and clarity of offences in the Tiv nation. As a loyal people, what's needed is prayer and support. No leader can ever do well without the support of his subjects or followers.

That's not all, there are others.
"Exactly tell them. Those that think they are doing their best by insulting Suswam, now it's Ortom. Tomorrow will be another person thanks for your powerful advice."
Similarly, I want to bring another comment that should sink down deep into every Tiv man and here it is 👇
"Reconciliation! That is what the LORD is expecting from us the Tiv nation".
The Tiv nation is bold to bring out their problem. The people of Nigeria generally are given to talking bad about their leaders. They can pray so that their leaders should die. That's the highest level of insubordination the led can give.

So from the question the bishop has asked, who then is the good person in Tiv land? We should all join hands and make our land a better place to live. Our leaders can do better when we support them. Their success is dependent on us and our attitude.
