Governor Ortom Inaugurates Benue Economic Team

Benue State Governor Dr. Samuel Ortom, today inaugurated the Benue State Economic Team with a charge to work hard to realize economic decisions that will put to end the hurdles caused by economic recession.

Performing the Ceremony at New Banquet Hall of Peoples House, the Gov stressed that the role of the committee is strictly advisory and therefore expected to work under close supervision and sharing of debates among them in every economic issue to reap the gains of sound economic decision.

Governor Ortom however, read the terms of reference to members of the committee which includes' To effectively coordinate the economic thinking of government in a systematic and sustainable manner with a view to realizing the vision of his administration.

To provide clear channels for consultations and articulation of business and economic ideas for an orderly and timely manner, as well as serve the core technical team of benue state for guiding, maintaining and observing all economic activities of the state in line with the 2015 to 2019 Blueprint of the Benue State Government.

The team is to process directives from the executive governor and the State executive council regarding the economy, and to interact with investors with an aim of injecting their plans in line with the state government agenda.

The economic team is expected to report to the governor and the executive council the viability or otherwise of planned projects and programmes including those of private partnership participation, and to provide technical guidelines of the overall direction of the economy of benue State.

Also, the team is to advice the state government on any proposal, project, programmes as may be assigned by the executive governor of benue State.

Responding on behalf of the other members, Chairman of the Benue State Economic Team, and Commissioner for Education Prof. Dennis Ityavyar assured that the team will do a diligent job to realize the aims of state government for interest of benue people.

The committee is chaired by prof. Dennis Ityavyar, Michael Gusa, as secretary and other members.
