Ex-PDP Women Leader, Okwubanego aligns with new party, says Nigeria needs new leaders

Young people in Nigeria have been called upon to participate actively in politics at all levels in order to revive the system of governance with fresh and innovative ideas in line with current global trends.
Mrs. Obby Okwubanego, a former Anambra State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Woman Leader made this call when the national leadership of Young Democratic Party (YDP) paid her a courtesy visit.
She noted that even though Nigeria has recorded significant growth and development over the years, the country cannot afford to be left behind when the rest of the world is moving at a fast speed.
Okwubanego, who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer of Winning Clause, an Abuja based property investment company, expressed confidence that Nigeria will overcome its current economic challenges and emerge strong and prosperous, saying young people are critical stakeholders in achieving the nation’s dreams.
“There is no better time to have a party of young, dynamic and vibrant men and women who are driven by a common passion of love of the country, citizens’ wellbeing and national development than now. Nigeria needs a crop of new leaders with the requisite skills, knowledge and fresh narratives necessary to help the system cope with current and emerging development in science, technology, medicine, education, shelter, safety of our environment, food growth and production, among others,“ Obby said She, therefore, thanked the leadership of the party for recognizing her humble contributions to societal growth and assured them of her support, adding however that their invitation for her to join the party would be subjected to wide consultations.
Speaking earlier, the National Chairman of the party, Barrister Aye Georgina Dakpokpo said they visited Mrs. Obby in recognition of her success in business, describing her as a rare gem, her numerous contributions to national development as well as her selfless services to humanity through charity works.
The Dakpokpo said YDP is a positive deviation from the old order, adding that the party is out to show Nigeria and Nigerians a new path to development based on adherence to international best practices, accountability, responsible citizenship and respect for human rights of the people.
