The Benue State Executive Council yesterday approved that Friday, 3rd March, 2017 be observed as a work free day in the state as part of preparations for the coronation of the fifth Tor Tiv the next day.

The council meeting which was presided over by Governor Ortom, enjoined indigenes and residents in the state to make sacrifices in receiving guests who will flood the state for the occasion.
The council noted that the people of the state already have a reputation for hospitality and urged them to sustain it by receiving and assisting visitors during their stay as well as enduring inconveniences including security checks that may arise by reason of the influx of people for the coronation.
Governor Ortom appealed to the people to turn out in large numbers in their best colours and manners to grace the occasion.
The Governor also received a letter of appreciation from the International Fund for Agriculture Development, IFAD, for his contributions to the success of its programs in the state.
The letter which was signed by the Country Program Officer of the fund, Dr. Ben Odoemena, was presented to him by Agriculture and Natural Resources Commissioner, Mr. James Anbua.
“In total, Benue State under your leadership has committed a total of Two Hundred and Fifty Three million naira (N253, 000. 000) to the program since its commencement in 2014. We also appreciate your desire to up-scale the program in the non-benefitting local government areas in the state,” Dr. Odoemena stated.
